Journal Entry #3 – The Importance of Backlinks

Table of contents

I’m working on a new post and realizing that these posts are harder to create than I thought. I’m about halfway through with my next article, which is going to be about 1200 words. I’m just making this journal post to acknowledge that posting 800-1200 word posts every day and 2000-3500 word posts weekly is going to be tougher than I thought. I’m going to provide an excerpt from the post I’m working on now.

Why Backlinks Are Important

Backlinks are, in a sense, like votes of confidence for your website. When another site links to yours, it signals to Google that your content is valuable and worth sharing. These signals play a crucial role in how search engines determine the authority and relevancy of your website. This is a key factor in getting your content to rank higher in Google’s search results.

Primarily, there is two essential aspects of backlinks that Google evaluates:

1. Quality

Not all backlinks are created equal! Imagine two people who gave you advice on golf: Tiger Woods and a random guy on the street. Which are you going to take more seriously? Exactly, Links from authoritative and high-traffic websites carry a much greater weight than those from low-quality, lesser-known, or shady sites.

2. Relevance

Even the most authoritative backlink may not be beneficial if it comes from a website irrelevant to your niche. For example, a backlink from The Wall Street Journal may not be very useful to a site about growing flowers. Relevant backlinks signal that your content is aligned closely with your target audience.

Hey, I'm Gil Torres. Here's a little about me. I love golf, spending time with my friends, learning new things, and traveling to new places. The reason I started this blog began with a series of failures in the online business world. Not being able to market my products and relying on others cost me.
